ROCK Laramie is a value-based and value-driven church family. Core values answer the question, “Why do we do what we do?” They supply the reasons behind our vision and mission. Jesus was a values-driven leader. His teaching focuses primarily on the motives and attitudes of the heart. (Matt. 5-7; 12:33-37; 15:16-20). The four core values of ROCK Laramie that serve as the foundation of the church are as follows:
- The glory of God: We value the glory and love of God. Bringing glory to God is the ultimate goal of God and man (Ps. 19:1-6; Rom. 1:18-23; 1 Cor. 10:31; Rev. 14:6,7).
- Christ & the Kingdom of God: We value the Gospel – The True and Good News of The Person and Work of Jesus Christ and the Reclaiming of Christ’s Kingdom on Earth.(Jn. 1; Eph. 1:9-10; Col. 1:15-23, 2:6-7; Matt. 6:33; 1 Thess. 2:8; Phil. 1:27; Luke 8:1; Acts 8:12)
- The Father and family: We value loving God as Father and living in covenant love with His family, so that we can demonstrate the Father’s love to a lost and dying world (Jn. 14:6-14, 18-21, 17:20-26; Ro. 8; 1 Jn. 1:3; Eph. 3:14-21).
- The Great Comission: We value devoting our entire lives to fulfilling Christ’s great commission to make disciples of all nations. We believe every son and daughter of God is called to be a missionary (John 20:21; Matt. 28:19-20).
These core values answer and inform the fundamental “why” of our mission, vision and purpose. ROCK Laramie believes that these core values are the most prominent themes of Scripture. We believe there are many other important values, themes, and topics of the Bible, but they are subsumed beneath one of these four core values.
ROCK Laramie seeks to integrate our core values into the entire church family. These core values are the fundamental ideals that determine our attitudes and actions. From Discipleship, Nurturing, and Accountability (DNA) groups, and Missional Kingdom Families (MKFs), to our corporate gatherings, to our private lives and public ministries, the values guide how we do life and why we are here in Laramie. These core values inform our leadership, culture, strategies and vision. They are the basis of how we spend our time, energy, talents, and money. What we are willing to live and die for reveals our true core values.
